The Tunnel City railway and transportation Heritage fund

As a legacy project of the Port Huron & Detroit Railroad Historical Society we want to honor our donors, members, friends and volunteers over the years by creating a special fund. 

This fund will be held by a local community grantmaking foundation. These funds will be available for specific support of non-profit organizations.  Funds will be used to assist in the historic preservation of railroad, transportation, and military related objects by such groups.

We were surprised such a fund does not currently exist locally. We feel duty bound to create such a source for future projects for other area non-profits to draw from. This hopefully will be available throughout the Thumb region to include the following counties:

Huron, Lapeer, Tuscola, Sanilac, St. Clair, and Macomb.

We are in the initial planning stages of this project. There will be more to come as we develop this project through our closing of Society operations.
